Hi,
I'm kindof an interloper here as I'm riding a Marauder 250, but hey its a suzuki and a single !
Anyway I have this strange running problem and having read through your board wonder if it could be a petcock problem. The Marauder has same or similar petcock as the Savage (ON, PRIME, RES)
Bike starts fine in the morning, I'm usually running through traffic for 2-3 miles then I can open up for about another 4 miles, bike still running fine, but as soon as I need to ease off the gas it backfires and starts to die unless I open up again, If I slow to a stop it will idle but try to give it any gas and it will splutter and usually die.
If I stop and switch off for about a miniute it will start up and run fine.
It seems temperature dependant because if its a warmer day the problem usually disappears until the next morning, but if its a cooler day it may happen again during the day.
Once it ran for a whole week without showing the problem but now it happens most mornings.
The bike is new, I have it about 12 weeks now, its been back to the shop twice, they adjusted the Carb first time, stripped and cleaned it the 2nd time and its due its 3rd trip back tommorow !
Its a pity cause its great fun otherwise.
Sorry for the long post but I think its best to give all the details, Finally I'm not certain about this but having just read your board and the petcock posts seemed closest to my problem I have a suspicion the bike it may run better on a full tank.
Thanks in advance, and the Savage looks great, I don't think there available here (Ireland).
